This week, the Sam’s opened with Villa’s routing of Newcastle and Chelsea’s comeback win in the West London Derby. The race for the Champions League features five teams vying for three spots, divided by only 3 points. Liverpool moved closer to their second title and sent Leicester back to the Championship. Arsenal secured a win as Ipswich were left to their last gasp. City and Forest also gained wins; nobody wants to claim the last European spot. Birmingham City is the first club in the FA to gain promotion from League 1, while Wrexham’s chance for a third straight promotion is now in their own hands. Walsall’s drop in League 2 continues, with the club having had a 12-point cushion at the top but now finding themselves in fourth place. Finally, Tranmere scored a late equalizer at Accrington Stanley in the battle to survive an exodus from the professional ranks.
